Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Mets (6:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

David Peterson is on the mound for the Mets tonight, following a short 3.2 IP outing against the Marlins last week: 5H, 3ER, 2BB, 7Ks. Peterson has allowed plenty of hard contact this season (43.2 hardhit%) and walks too many batters (10.1%), but he is capable of striking guys out (27.6%) and has had an effective season overall: 3.47 ERA.

Tonight, Peterson will be facing his fellow southpaw Drew Smyly, who’s coming off his best start of the season: 7.0 IP, 1H, 0ER, 2BB, 8Ks. As a matter of fact that was the third best start of his career by game score, a number he hasn’t topped since 2016.

Somehow, the Cubs have put themselves in a position to play for the sweep tonight, and I’m totally here to see them knock the Mets out of first place (with a little help from Atlanta).
