The Cubs and Rockies have split the first two games of the series, and remain one game apart in the reverse standings: Cubs (t-8th), Rangers (t-8th), Rockies (t-10th, 1.0 game back), Angels (t-10th, 1.0 game back). That’s a pretty big swing from 8th to potentially 11th … just something to keep in mind.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Zach McKinstry, 2B
- Ian Happ, LF
- Yan Gomes, C
- Franmil Reyes, DH
- David Bote, 3B
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
- Nelson Velázquez, RF
- Michael Hermosillo, CF
- Chris Morel, SS
Javier Assad, RHP
Lefties and righties have hit Ryan Feltner just fine throughout his career, though I’m obliged to point out his significant, reverse splits: righties are slashing a staggering .316/.373/.570 (.399 wOBA) off Feltner for his career.
The only two lefties he’ll face today are Zach McKinstry, who continues to lead off and play second base in the absence of Nick Madrigal. And Alfonso Rivas, whose second-half we discussed earlier today.
Yan Gomes is the man behind the plate today, and Chris Morel continues to back up shortstop while Nico Hoerner deals with some tough MRI news on his triceps.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
