It’s hard not to be struck by the terrible situation happening right now in Puerto Rico, after being hit by Hurricane Fiona and leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power or access to food.
Javy Báez, who grew up in Puerto Rico and has long stayed connected to the island, is trying to do his part to take care of those in need:
Báez, even as he wraps his first season in Detroit, is helping make hot meals available to people in Puerto Rico as best he can at a distance. “All those families who are in need of a hot meal can stop by @taquizapr in Toa Baja,” Báez wrote on IG, “and we will serve it to you for FREE!! If your community is affected and you’re in need of hot meal, you can call 787-665-2323 (Joshua) or stop by @taquizapr and we will make all the arrangements. Blessings to all of you!”
Prayers to those on the island, and hopefully they will have services safely restored as quickly as possible. In the meantime, hopefully those in need can avail themselves of Báez’s offer, and more like it.
