A little pre-game update on Chicago Cubs shortstop Nico Hoerner, who has been out since September 11 with a triceps strain. It has been uncertain whether he would be able to return this season or not.
I would say it’s still uncertain, but the (realistic) goal is still that he could return. At least he’s making some throws on the field at this point. Here’s some info from and about Hoerner tonight, via Jordan Bastian:
Hoerner, 25, has played in a career-high 125 games this season as the team’s starting shortstop. He’s been excellent defensively, and has hit .291/.338/.421/112 wRC+. Per FanGraphs, he’s been worth 4.1 WAR.
