With so many of the key-Cubs out of the lineup (or rotation) injured at the moment, I’ll concede that there simply aren’t a LOT of reasons to watch the Cubs right now. They’re not even in a particularly interesting race in the reverse standings, especially with the draft lotto and their ceiling mostly capped at 8th best odds at this point.
But there are still some reasons, and one of those undoubtedly is tonight’s starter Hayden Wesneski.
Wesneski has been everything you could’ve hoped for early in his big league career, and has a real shot at turning into one of the Cubs main starters next season (if not right away, sometime down the line). So watching him right now is worth your attention.
Go Wesneski. Go Cubs.
