Chicago Cubs Lineup: Nico Hoerner Is Back!

Chicago Cubs

Before I saw today’s lineup, I was wondering how often I’d actually switch off the Bears third game of the season (at noon) for this entirely meaningless contest between the Cubs and Pirates in late September. But then I saw the DH and I’m thinking I’ll have to click over at least 4 times in this one.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Zach McKinstry, SS
  2. Esteban Quiroz, 2B
  3. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
  4. Ian Happ, LF
  5. Nico Hoerner, DH
  6. Franmil Reyes, RF
  7. P.J. Higgins, C
  8. Alfonso Rivas, 1B
  9. Michael Hermosillo, C

Adrian Sampson: RHP

Nico Hoerner (triceps) hasn’t played in a game since September 11, but he’s back in the lineup tonight! The Cubs are easing him back into the fold via the DH spot, which is perfectly fine by me. It’s been a great year for the 25-year-old shortstop and I’ll be thrilled to see him finish the season on his own two feet.

With Hoerner at DH, Franmil Reyes gets his first start in the outfield with the Cubs. He last played right field for the Guardians on July 29, but has done it only a handful of times all year.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (12:35 CT).
