Matt Mervis Just UNLOADED on His 36th Homer of the Season

Chicago Cubs

There is not big league Cubs game tonight, but the Iowa Cubs are kicking off their final three-game stretch of the season against Toledo.

And since the Iowa Cubs are playing, that means at least one of Matt Mervis or Alexander Canario is going to homer. Tonight – so far! – it’s Matt Mervis, who absolutely UNLOADED on one:

Obliterated off the bat. 444 feet. Sweet mama that was pretty. The dinger is Mervis’s system-leading 36th homer of the year, breaking the ongoing tie with Canario, who is now one behind at 35. The night is young, of course.

Matt Mervis is tied for the second-most homers in the minor leagues this year, just two behind Moises Gomez for the minor league lead. STAY HOT, MERV!
