The Chicago Cubs are down to their final nine games of the season, starting with three against the Phillies at Wrigley Field. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for Game 1 against the right-hander Zack Wheeler.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Zach McKinstry, 3B
- Esteban Quiroz, 2B
- Willson Contreras, DH
- Ian Happ, LF
- Nico Hoerner, SS
- Patrick Wisdom, RF
- Yan Gomes, C
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
- Chris Morel, CF
SP: Marcus Stroman, RHP
The Cubs lineup looks a lot better today than it did yesterday, and with Seiya Suzuki’s return just around the corner, it should look a lot better tomorrow.
Nico Hoerner was already back, but tonight, he’s making his first start at shortstop since September 11. Meanwhile, Willson Contreras is making his first start anywhere since August! It’s good to have these guys back, and I’m hoping they both finish the season strong and healthy. Especially Contreras, who’s heading into an uncertain free agent market this offseason.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:40 CT).
