Chicago Cubs Lineup: Quiroz’s Turn at Leadoff

Chicago Cubs

If there was a second-half World Series, the Cubs would be going. Here’s a look at their lineup for the first of six straight games against the Reds to end the season.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Esteban Quiroz, 2B
  2. Seiya Suzuki, RF
  3. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
  4. Ian Happ, LF
  5. Franmil Reyes, DH
  6. Nico Hoerner, SS
  7. Yan Gomes, C
  8. P.J. Higgins, 1B
  9. Chris Morel, CF

SP: Adrian Sampson, RHP

After catching his first game since August yesterday, Willson Contreras is getting the day off against Cincinnati. He’s replaced by Yan Gomes behind the plate, who’ll throw the ball back to starter Adrian Sampson all afternoon. The Cubs other catcher, P.J. Higgins, is playing first base today.

Seiya Suzuki is sticking in the lineup after a nice return to action yesterday (2-3, BB, 3B) and a redhot stretch dating backing to early August:

Suzuki stands in the outfield alongside Chris Morel and Ian Happ, and Nico Hoerner remains at shortstop. It’s nice to see the Cubs position players finishing the season strong and mostly healthy.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
