Somehow, Ian Happ did not homer last night, even though the game was in Cincinnati. That is illogical. I can only assume, then, that he’ll homer each of the next two games to wrap up the season.
Tonight, the Cubs will face Luis Cessa, the long-time reliever for the Yankees and Reds who’s been nudged into some starting duty for the Reds this year. He’s got a 4.03 ERA as a starter, though, so maybe the Reds are onto something.
Javier Assad starts for the Cubs, looking to finish up his outstanding overall season with a bright spot. I think he’s already sewn up his 40-man spot for the offseason with his ability as an up-down depth starter for the Cubs next year, but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to put together one more solid outing.
