Oh this is just too delicious. I can’t help it. We joked about it at the time, and now the Mets are making it even more real!
Back when the Chicago Cubs swept the New York Mets last month, we joked about how it broke the Mets. They lost some more games after that, moved on from their President, and wound up losing the NL East to the Braves down the stretch. It was mostly just me being petty about a general dislike for the Mets, and a specific dislike of how they conducted themselves like cowards at the Trade Deadline.
But it’s not just me! The Mets are talking about it, too! Kinda!
DAMN RIGHT. There were lots of reasons the Mets did not win the NL East, but I like to believe the one on their minds is that they got swept by the Cubs in their house in September, and that was that.
Like I said: it’s just delicious.
The Mets kick off their Wild Card series against the Padres on Friday at 7pm CT. If they manage to beat the Padres in that three-game set, then they get the Dodgers in the NLDS. Probably should’ve beaten the Cubs.
