Under normal circumstances, the Seattle Mariners’ incredible comeback so far tonight would be the big story. They were down by as much as 8-1 earlier in the game, but just tied it up at 9 on a bases clearing double in the 8th inning.
The reason that isn’t the main talking point, though, is because of how that bases-clearing double happened. It was a very scary collision in the Blue Jays outfield between Bo Bichette and George Springer that led to the runs scoring:
Springer was down for a long time as the crowd sat in stunned and concerned silence. It was just really bad. Eventually, Springer tried to get up, but it was clear that he was not going to make it off the field on his own.
Hopefully George Springer will ultimately be OK, though if the Mariners complete this comeback, the Blue Jays’ season will be over in any case. Mostly just thinking about Springer at the moment. You just don’t want to see any kind of serious head or neck injury for a guy.
