The Cleveland Guardians Just Walked It Off in the *15TH INNING* to Win Their Wild Card Series

Chicago Cubs

I won’t make any of the obligatory jokes about the free runner on second base in extra-innings in the regular season, but I will note that there is no such free runner in the postseason.

And the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays just played 14.5 scoreless innings in Game Two of their Wild Card series. Do with that what you will.

HOWEVER, it certainly set up an exciting conclusion in the bottom of the 15th:

Oscar Gonzalez, a rookie who was pretty darn good for the Guardians this year, gets the walk-off blast off of Corey Kluber.

Congrats to the Guardians on sweeping the Rays, who’ll be right back here next year, winning a ton of games on a shoestring budget and then losing in the first couple rounds of the playoffs.

As for the Guardians, well, I guess they also do things on a shoestring budget. Here’s hoping they make a deep enough run that they feel they’ve done well enough, and are ready to dump Shane Bieber before he makes too much more money.
