The old Wild Card format would’ve had a couple single-elimination Wild Card games, and that would’ve been it. In the new format, we get only one winner-take-all Wild Card game, but there were six other games to enjoy in total among the other three settled series. I think there is a net upside there, to say nothing of a statistically typical year when you would I think average at least a couple game threes?
Tonight’s Wild Card series finale between the San Diego Padres and New York Mets pits Joe Musgrove against Chris Bassitt, with an NLDS matchup against the Dodgers the reward.
The Padres have aggressively pushed in again and again over the past few years. The Mets were cowardly cowards that cowarded at this year’s Trade Deadline. I know which team I’d like to see win tonight.
