David Robertson Strained His Calf Celebrating a Bryce Harper Homer and Is Now Off the Phillies Playoff Roster

As much as you might chuckle at the ridiculousness of the injury, you never want to see this for a player, particularly one who had otherwise had a great year with the Cubs and his new team.

David Robertson, the closer the Cubs traded at the deadline to the Phillies for pitching prospect Ben Brown, injured his calf celebrating that monster Bryce Harper home run against the Cardinals, and he’s out for the NLDS:

All you can hope is that Robertson, 37, will be able to return to a later round. Seems like a big bonus to the Braves, though, who are not only well-rested after the bye, but now get to face the Phillies without one of the best late-inning arms (which is particularly important in the postseason).
