As I type this, it’s only the 4th inning out in Arizona, where the Mesa Solar Sox are facing the Glendale Desert Dogs. But the Cubs have already seen two of their prospects go deep, and one of ’em added a double for good measure.
Those prospects are Matt Mervis and B.J. Murray, with Mervis also sending a bullet double to the opposite field:
Oh, and Murray just walked, so he’s also now been on base twice. His homer was of the opposite-field variety:
As for the Mervis homer, well, he got ALLLLL of it and had a nice little bat flip, to boot:
Matt Mervis just rakes, man. I cannot wait to see what happens with him next year.
Owen Caissie is also playing tonight in the AFL, but he’s only had a walk so far. He’ll probably sock one by the time I click publish.
