A Fan Just Ran on the Field During the ALCS, Grabbed Jose Altuve, Tried to Take a Selfie

Chicago Cubs

It hasn’t been a great postseason for Jose Altuve – his 0 for 23 streak to start the postseason set a new record – and now it has also been a weird one.

This happened tonight at the start of the 9th inning, with the Astros trying to close out the Game Two win:

As others point out, it’s not at all a funny situation. It’s scary that a fan could get that far and actually get into contact with a player for a not insignificant period of time before security removes him.

Altuve seemed to handle the situation as well as possible, but he probably just had no idea how to react. Who knows what you’re supposed to do in that situation?

That’s gonna be a serious legal problem for that fan, and it’s absolutely never worth doing something like that. But again, it’s just kinda jarring that it happened at all.
