The worst kind of mistake is the kind you make doing something you didn’t even have to do in the first place.
The award plaques for the Cy Young winners were updated for 2022, modifying the language from “most outstanding” pitcher to “most valuable” pitcher. Not necessary, strictly speaking, but whatever.
Except … that’s not how you spell valuable:
Hey, we all make mistakes. That’s why pencils have eras … oh. That, uh, doesn’t really apply when you’re talking about metal on a plaque, eh?
Perhaps a better point is about just how valuble an editor can be.
