Chicago Cubs Announce Their New Slogan for 2023: #NextStartsHere
Each year – well, sometimes it repeats, but roughly each year – the Chicago Cubs unveil a new slogan for the season ahead. It’s mostly a marketing thing, but it’s been fun when they REALLY nail it and create something of an anthem for the fans to get behind.

The best ones in my memory were ‘Fly The W’ and ‘Let’s Go,’ the latter of which was perfect for the expectation that it was time to really compete in 2015. I’m not sure ‘Fly The W’ was ever formally one of these things – kinda like ‘We Are Good’ – but it’s been my favorite line about the Cubs. I wish they would use it more.
Last year’s was appropriate for a variety of reasons – ‘It’s Different Here’ – and I didn’t hate it. But I don’t know that it ever really caught on as something solely in the marketing materials (and an occasional fan quip).
Today the Cubs unveiled this year’s installment, and again, I can see how it is appropriately fitting and clever, but I’m not sure it’s going to catch on in the way others have:
Some of the reception will depend on how the Cubs perform – almost anything can become “really good” if the team is winning. I don’t hate it. But I think it might just be too clever by half, if the goal was to get widespread fan adoption.
