Take a Mid-Day Break to Watch Cody Bellinger Take Drew Smyly Way Deep
It’s always a mixed bag when a Cubs hitter destroys a Cubs pitcher in live batting practice. On the one hand, it’s great to see Cody Bellinger crushing the ball. On the other hand, you don’t want to see Drew Smyly getting beat up by a fellow lefty.
But then I remember that it’s all just practice anyway, so who cares? Just enjoy it when there’s some fun video to enjoy:
Ooh baby that was LOUD.
That’s about 30 feet up the berm in left center, so you’re looking at about 420 feet at Sloan (the distances are a touch further there because of the elevation). Love to see that kinda slightly-opposite-field pop from Bellinger. That’d play VERY well at Wrigley Field, though he has historically tended to be more of a pull-guy.
As for what Josh Frydman was reference in his tweet, it’s this:
Hey, if Dex wants to pass on some of that You-Go-We-Go energy to Cody Bellinger, I’d be all about it.
