Terrible Week for the Mets – Brandon Nimmo Just Had to Be Helped Off the Field

Chicago Cubs

After seeing one of their most important players – and nine-figure re-signing – Edwin Diaz suffer a likely-season-ending injury this week in the WBC, I can imagine the New York Mets are holding their breath tonight after seeing what happened to Brandon Nimmo.

One of the Mets’ other very important players – and another nine-figure re-signing – Brandon Nimmo just had to be helped off the field of a Spring Training game after an awkward slide into second base:

Nimmo, who turns 30 later this month, is a critical bat atop the Mets’ lineup and a key defender in center field. Like Diaz, he’s not a guy the Mets are going to feel even remotely comfortable losing for an extended period of time. And for it to have also happened in a non-regular-season game? Yikes.

Hopefully it wasn’t as bad as it looked this time.
