Chicago Cubs

GOOOOOOOOD MORNING, MY FRIENDS! One of the most important holidays of the year has arrived: MLB Opening Day.

The Chicago Cubs begin their 2023 season today. Although we do not have title expectations for this team, I do expect to be entertained. To be hopeful. To be engaged by the baseball on the field for the next six months, not just the next six weeks.

Is that a tall ask? For this year’s team to be sufficiently competitive that the wins and losses still matter in July and August and September? I don’t think it should be. Everything that went into the recent rebuild and then the construction of this team in the offseason was geared toward doing something this year. The front office believes this team can be competitive. The players always believe they can be competitive.

And on Opening Day, it’s never too hard to sell me on a chance. It’s why we keep coming back, and why we watch the games in the first place. Today is the first opportunity for the Cubs to put up a ‘W’ in 2023. I am so ready to be there watching with friends, drinking it all in.

Much love to you all on this most blessed of holidays. Go Cubs. Win today. And then win like 54% of the time thereafter.
