I can’t say I know for sure what happened (yet) between Giants pitcher Anthony DeSclafani and White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn. There could yet be an explanation that makes sense in time.
But when you watch this play live, was it DeSclafani being annoyed that Vaughn swung at a 3-0 slider ( … with a runner on base, and the White Sox down two runs)? Was it Vaughn shouting to himself and DeSclafani got bothered by that? It’s weird:
As you can see on the replay, it’s not like Vaughn said anything to DeSclafani. He wasn’t even looking at him! So, yeah, I have no idea what that could’ve been about, other than some weird reaction to a reaction (or some weird old school BS). MAYBE Vaughn was yelling at himself as he ran down the line – mad that he swung at a 3-0 slider, which is admittedly not wise – and DeSclafani thought it was at him?
