Trey Mancini had not had a successful career against Michael Wacha coming into tonight’s game (0-7, 4Ks). But he got to him in the fourth inning, poking his third homer of the season over the left field wall, tying the ballgame.
After an ICE cold start to the season, Mancini now has eight hits (including 2 HRs) and three walks in his last six games. And that’s dragged his season slash line up from the depths of the smelliest Wrigleyville trough to a more respectable .247/.291/.384 (84 wRC+). There’s obviously still a long way to go, but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
