Enhanced Box Score: Marlins 4, Cubs 3 – April 30, 2023
For the third straight game, the Miami Marlins beat the Chicago Cubs late in a one-run game, which easily could have gone the other way. Because I was unable to watch most of the game today (family duties), I can probably have a more positive spin that I would otherwise – games like this are often the result of a cosmic coin flip, rather than a true measure of talent. The loss sucks. All three losses suck. But it’s not as if the Marlins are 100% better than the Cubs. Gonna have to try to bounce back in Washington.
Justin Steele put together his 13th straight outing allowing 2 ER or fewer, but it wasn’t enough. The bats once again missed out on some opportunities, despite a whole lot of hard contact. Keegan Thompson finally had one of his walks come back to bite him.
