This is one of those unimportant things that nevertheless made me go “whoa,” so I thought some of you might be interested in seeing it, too.
Javy Báez just hit a massive homer for the Tigers, which is all fine and good, but it was his pre-swing stance at the plate that really made me do a double-take:
That’s how Javy sets up at the plate now, apparently. The swing itself still looks like a massive explosion of violence (that homer was 434 feet and 108.5 mph off the bat), but how he gets there looks unrecognizable to this Cubs fan.
Whatever works.
Speaking of which, ever since Báez got pulled from that game for forgetting how many outs there were (remember that whole thing last month?), he’s been hitting again. I’m glad to see it. I have nothing but positive wishes for Javy, and it has stunk to see him struggle so much in Detroit.
