Frank Schwindel was never just a novelty, having been among the top 1% of the top 1% of the top 1% of people who try to play baseball in the United States. That’s what it means to make it to Major League Baseball, and, hey, this is a guy who DID have two truly outstanding months back in 2021. So I don’t want to act like he’s just a guy to be celebrated for his goofy thumbs-up smiles and ‘Frank the Tank’ nickname.
BUT! It is definitely fun when a guy embraces that side of himself and just has fun with it.
So I am this morning finding it wonderful to learn that, not only did Frank Schwindel just hit his first home run in Japan, but he did it with Frank the Tank quite literally stitched on his back:
Frank Schwindel got his first homer in Japan, and did it with Frank the Tank on his back:
Schwindel, 30, hasn’t yet put it together at the plate in Japan, but hopefully this homer is the start of a hot stretch. I want nothing but success for that guy.
