Ian Happ With an Incredible Play Off the Wall and Throw to the Plate

A lot of nice offensive highlights tonight for the Cubs, but Ian Happ just got in the books with a TREMENDOUS defensive play.

The wall in left in Houston is obviously a tough one, not only because of its proximity and height, but also because it’s got a couple funky angles. So it’s not a given that you can play one “true” off the wall. It’ll eat you up sometimes.

So it was for Ian Happ. Albeit only briefly, and then he turned it into something special:

Talk about going with the ball and letting the momentum take you into the throw! That was just perfect. Great tag by Yan Gomes, too. Drew Smyly couldn’t believe it. That’s the Gold Glove defense we’ve been waiting to see back in action.
