Cubs vs Phillies — Do we know for sure if Wednesday was rock bottom for the 2023 Chicago Cubs? No, we don’t. And we still need to see if the Cubs are going to shake up their bullpen and if they’re going to get Nico Hoerner and/or Cody Bellinger back tonight. But I like to think yesterday’s off-day came at the right time. This team needed a break. A reset. And they got one. Now it’s time to get back on the upswing. There’s a lot of ground to make up. Let’s put in that work.
Starting tonight, the Cubs will play three games against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Marcus Stroman, Jameson Taillon, and Justin Steele are scheduled to go for the Cubs and Christopher Morel is going to hit two more homers in this series. Book it. The Phillies don’t have a scheduled starter for Sunday as of now, but it’s shaping up to be Zack Wheeler.
There’s an off-day on Monday and then the Cubs come back to Wrigley Field for a nine-game homestand against the Mets, Reds, and Rays.
