Cubs vs Angels — Is it just me or does it feel like the Cubs never play the Angels? They might be the team for which I have the least specific Cubs memories in the bank. After some quick research, it looks like the Cubs last faced the Angels in 2019 (four years ago), going 2-1 in a series started by Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks, and Cole Hamels. Weird.
Anyway, back to the present, the 2023 Chicago Cubs are taking on the Los Angeles Angels in a three-game, late-night set this week. And when I say late, I mean LATE. All three games start at 8:38pm CT, which really sucks (it also continues on Friday against the Giants for a 9:15pm CT start). I hate the West Coast.
On the bright side, the Cubs will miss Shohei Ohtani, the pitcher, this week, despite originally being scheduled to pitch in this series. On the flip side, the Angels are dodging Justin Steele, who hit the injured list, and will get Hayden Wesneski instead.
The Cubs need to start stacking series wins, so let’s hope they get off to a good start tonight.
