I wrote yesterday about Jameson Taillon’s deep struggles this year and his place in the Chicago Cubs’ rotation, and concluded that, despite those struggles, there really isn’t a great option to remove him.
It seems the Cubs have concluded the same. For now.
โRight now heโs in our rotation,โ Cubs GM Carter Hawkins said of Taillon, per the Tribune. โWe donโt have any plans to move him out of it. Obviously things change over the course of a season, but thatโs not a conversation weโve had.โ
It’s interesting that Hawkins left in the hedge about things possibly changing, but I suppose that’s just a general truism. Stuff can happen. But it doesn’t sound like that stuff is happening any time soon, and there is no “injury” to disclose on Taillon.
So he’ll just have to keep on working to get back to where he was before this year, and figure out a way not to keep getting destroyed by lefties.
