We are a couple weeks into raising funds for Make-A-Wish, and you’ve already pushed us way over the halfway mark! A reminder that I’m offering to blog for 42 straight hours – NO SLEEP -?? at the MLB Trade Deadline if we can raise $10,000 to support the incredible work that Make-A-Wish does for kids and families who really need it. Please go here to donate! Thank you for doing good!
Through your efforts over past Blogathons, you’ve raised more than $163,000 for Make-A-Wish to transform your passion for baseball into some real, impactful good in this world. To that end, I wanted to share some of that good, with a story involving a Wish kiddo, the Chicago Cubs, and a very special memory.
From Make-A-Wish Illinois:
Bo likes playing baseball and watching the Chicago Cubs. After being diagnosed with a rare disease he was referred to Make-A-Wish and shared his dream to visit the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field. Bo???s wish was recently granted when he and his family had a chance to view the iconic ivy up close, sit in the Cubs dugout and be on the field before a game on a sunny summer day in Chicago.
With a full heart and a gift bag from the team, the family made their way to their excellent seats to take in the game. By chance, they met a friend of one of the game announcers, who brought Bo and family up to the broadcast booth, another surprise that made Bo???s eyes sparkle. Looking back on a full day of baseball in the historic park with his family will bring smiles for years to come.
This is why we support Make-A-Wish, and why I appreciate so much that you help make the Blogathon work. These moments – these memories – that the kids and their families get to experience make for real joy, real memories, and real respite from anything else they might have going on. It??matters. Thank you!
