The good news is that I got to watch tonight’s game with some friends. I really enjoyed that part of it.
The bad news is that the game was never particularly competitive. The Cubs didn’t quite get blown out, but with a couple early homers off of Javier Assad and a WHOLLLLLE of lot early hard hit balls by the Cubs finding gloves, the Cubs trailed for pretty much the duration. So many loud outs.
Good on Assad for settling down enough to make a decent start of it, but the bats just couldn’t string any hits together until the 9th, and it wasn’t quite enough. They were pesky through the end, though, and I suppose that’s nice to see.
