You Can Get in the Lottery for Chicago Cubs Postseason Tickets Now

With the MLB postseason a distinct possibility for the Chicago Cubs this year, the team has opened up a lottery for the opportunity to purchase playoff tickets if/when that becomes a real thing.

Fans who want to add their name to the lottery list can go here to do it.

From the official release:

The Chicago Cubs today launched the “Fly the W” presale opportunity for the 2023 Postseason, providing fans with the opportunity to purchase a limited number of select tickets for potential 2023 Wild Card Series and National League Division Series (NLDS) games played at Wrigley Field. Beginning today, Thursday, September 14, at 10 a.m. CDT, fans can register for a chance to purchase tickets to either the Wild Card Series or NLDS.* Registration for the Wild Card Series will close Monday, September 25, at 11:59 p.m. CDT and registration for the NLDS will end Tuesday, October 3, at 11:59 p.m. CDT.

In order to participate, fans 18 years of age or older must log in to their MLB.com account and submit an online registration form. Limit of one registration per person. If selected via random drawing to purchase tickets, fans will be notified via email with instructions on the purchase opportunity. All registered fans, whether selected in a particular drawing or not, will continue to be eligible for selection to subsequent opportunities available through this program.

Tickets will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability, and will be distributed exclusively as mobile tickets via the MLB Ballpark app.

For more information on the “Fly the W” presale opportunity or to view the official rules, visit www.cubs.com/postseason.

*Registration is open to legal residents of the 50 United States including its territories, commonwealths and possessions who have an MLB.com account and are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. A registration form must be submitted during the designated registration period to be eligible. Being selected as a winner does not guarantee you will be able to purchase ticket(s) for either series. There is no charge to register. The likelihood of receiving the opportunity to purchase tickets through the “Fly the W” presale opportunity depends on the number of eligible registrations received. Full terms and conditions are available at www.cubs.com/postseason.

The Cubs are also very smartly using this as an opportunity to solicit new season ticket holders – if you place a deposit on 2024 season tickets, the page indicates, you can get first dibs on 2023 playoff tickets and skip the lottery altogether.

Are the Blue Jays About to Make a Serious Run at Juan Soto? And If So … (UPDATE)

Caveats aplenty here. There is a whole lot of high-stakes incentives flying around to propel misinformation, especially around the Yankees-Padres trade talks, because they are CLEARLY using the media to get out some of their desired messaging. But another report...

REPORTS: Yankees-Padres Talks on Juan Soto Stalling Out? Others Stepping In? Any Shohei Ohtani Connection?

Within a FIVE-MINUTE SPAN, multiple reports dropped all communicating more or less the same thing: the Yankees and Padres have hit a wall in their long-reported and long-active Juan Soto trade talks. Obsessive Shohei Ohtani Watch: More Meetings This Weekend? Finalists? Impact on Other Moves?

That’s a New One: Jordan Montgomery Could Be a “Strike-First” Option for the Cubs

While we wait for Shohei Ohtani to make his decision, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto to sign shortly thereafter, perhaps the Cubs could surprise the industry and sign ... left-handed starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery? That's new. The rumor in question isn't quite...

A Yoshinobu Yamamoto Update is Also Kind of an Obsessive Shohei Ohtani Watch

Shohei Ohtani continues to be the central focus of much of the baseball world - it certainly takes up 95% of my brain - but he is not the only top free agent out there this offseason. I keep thinking...

Oh, For Real? Cubs Among the “Favorites” to Sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto

I gotta tell you, this one is catching me by surprise. While we've long known the Cubs have been interested in signing 25-year-old Japanese Ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the momentum sure seemed to swing away from them lately (especially now that...

Obsessive Shohei Ohtani Watch: Teams Getting Cut, Dollars Going Sky High, Cubs, Dodgers, More

The Winter Meetings were never NECESSARILY going to be the Shohei Ohtani cut-off, but it sure has seemed like a logical dividing line. It's big and splashy, which MLB would love, but it's also a time when involved teams (and...

More Connecting the Cubs to a Tyler Glasnow Trade, But It Might Not Be Imminent

Even as I read that headline, I realize that it kinda depends on your definition of the word "imminent." For me, I think of that - in a baseball transaction context - as something that's truly just about to go...
