Joey Votto says he wants to play "at least one more year", whether that be with the Reds or another MLB team.
"The last couple years were crumby. I wasn't healthy for 2 years, so I'd like to play well. It's not the taste I want to leave in my mouth."@JoeyVotto #Reds #MLB pic.twitter.com/FCJeFAEj7v— Dan Patrick Show (@dpshow) October 6, 2023
Joey Votto to @TheAthleticMLB: "This and last season were challenging due to an injury. A stretch of health gives me optimism I can be competitive and productive. The game will tell me if I am correct or not" https://t.co/RqgBmFH0Xg— C. Trent Rosecrans (@ctrent) October 7, 2023
Votto also admitted that he cried before his last game at Great American Ball Park last month.
“The day before the last game in Cincinnati, I thought, ‘this might be my last game playing in Cincinnati,’” Votto said during his radio interview. “So I was sitting on my couch at home the night before playing ‘Landslide’ by Fleetwood Mac probably about 15 times in a row, and that part that says, ‘I’ve been afraid of changing because I’ve built my life around you.’ I played that like 15 times and I was bawling thinking about the end of tenure, the end of my relationship with the Cincinnati Reds and the fan base, with the experience. So, yeah, that was the last time I cried and I cried hard, pretty hard.”

The Angels and AGM Alex Tamin have parted ways, sources tell me and @kileymcd. Tamin was basically GM Perry Minasian’s right-hand man.

The Angels announce that assistant GM Alex Tamin will not return.
He was GM Perry Minasian’s second in command, and had come over with him from Atlanta.
The Angels say it was a mutual decision. They’re now without an AGM and will likely need to make a hire.— Sam Blum (@SamBlum3) October 6, 2023
