Whew. There was a second there after a brutal bottom of the first inning for Cubs hitters, that I thought Bobby Miller was going to shut out the Cubs entirely today. His elite fastball and command is seriously overwhelming and none of the Cubs first three batters could do anything with it.
But Dansby Swanson eats fastballs for breakfast, and did exactly that with this 2-0, 98 MPH four-seamer in the bottom of the second inning at Wrigley Field. Turns out, even with velocity, location still matters.
J.D. absolutely called that one, eh?
That was Swanson’s second homer of the season, and he’s off to a really nice start this year (just like last season): .333/.423/.667 (177 wRC+).
