There it is! .500! The Cubs haven’t seen that mark since June 5 when they were 31-31. Now they are 65-65.
As for the series, that’s two. Gotta win tomorrow. Get the sweep. Don’t settle.
The offense exploded today, with the Cubs properly beating up on a so-so staff, including bopping the Marlins’ starter with the regression stick. It was the kind of game where Craig Counsell got to empty the bench, and you realize how long it’s been since we’ve seen some of these guys. I feel like Mike Tauchman has played like twice in the last month.
Although there were outstanding offensive performances up and down the lineup in this one, how could anyone but Seiya Suzuki get the Ankin Law โMaking it Personalโ Player of the Game honors? Two homers and a triple? Enormous game.
Obviously a tip of the cap to the best 8-9 combo in all of baseball, with each of Pete Crow-Armstrong and Miguel Amaya having huge days again.
Shร ยta Imanaga did exactly what you should do on a day like this against a lineup like that: come right at them, let them hit a couple solo homers, and don’t assist in creating any rallies.
