Friday the 13th happened to the Cubs, with a guy named Hunter Goodman wearing the hockey mask and repeatedly impaling the Cubs.
Losing in Colorado is actually not always an embarrassing thing, as the Rockies historically play so much better at home than on the road, even when they’re bad overall. But if you’ve got the game tied in the 8th inning, it’s going to feel bad to lose regardless of the circumstances.
Michael Busch’s game-tying, 8th inning blast went for naught, because Goodman, who’d already homered in the game, wound up hitting a game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the frame. Those are the two guys who deserve the Ankin Law โMaking it Personalโ Player of the Game honors, and you can give it to the Cub if you’re feeling charitable, or to the Rockie if you’re feeling ticked.
