CUBS LINEUP — And here we are, the final Chicago Cubs lineup of the year. Win today and the Cubs won one more game than last year.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Ian Happ, LF
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Seiya Suzuki, DH
- Michael Busch, 1B
- Isaac Paredes, 3B
- Pete Crow-Armstrong, CF
- Christian Bethancourt, C
- Kevin Alcantara, RF
- Luis Vazquez, SS
In the final game of the season, starters Dansby Swanson, Cody Bellinger, and Miguel Amaya are on the bench in favor of Christian Bethancourt, Kevin Alcantara, and Luis Vazquez — batting seventh, eighth, and ninth respectively.
With those subs, Nico Hoerner moves up to the two-hole, while Pete Crow-Armstrong bats sixth (I believe the highest he’s hit all year). Happ is still in left and leading off and Michael Busch cleans up at first base. Go Cubs. Might as well win.
Cincinnati Reds Lineup:
- Jonathan India, 2B
- Elly De La Cruz, SS
- Tyler Stephenson, DH
- Spencer Steer, LF
- TJ Friedl, CF
- Ty France, 1B
- Jake Fraley, RF
- Noelvi Marte, 3B
- Luke Maile, C
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Caleb Kilian, RHP
Caleb Kilian has been called in to make the final start of the year and his first in MLB this season. Kilian hasn’t really found any success in the big leagues yet, but there is obviously talent in that arm. We’ll see if he can’t give the Cubs front office something to think about over the offseason.
Cincinnati Reds: Hunter Greene, RHP
Hunter Greene finally broke out this season, matching his results (2.83 ERA, 3.7 WAR over 25 starts) to the impressive frame (6’5″, 250lbs) stuff (98 MPH fastball), and underlying stats ~30K%, solid contact management this season). Historically, righties have hit Greene a lot better than lefties, but he’s fixed that this season.
