The NFL season opener is just under 100 days away. Still, with most of the offseason roster construction being completed, we have a good idea of what teams might be capable of this season. So, why not start looking into some NFL futures bets?
SharpClarke put together a lengthy list of 2023 NFL futures bets that he will be playing. I have to admit, I liked more than a few, and I’m going to be tailing some of them.
It’s Friday, and I’m in a great mood. So, we’re going to take a quick look at some of my favorite plays, and a couple that I would avoid, personally. Let’s make some money, right?
Favorite Plays
Falcons Frenzy
Personally, please give me all three of those. I think Atlanta is a lock to win eight games this season, and that probably gets them darn close to an NFC South title. So those first two are easy money. However, the real money is in Atlanta winning the NFC.
Are the Falcons my favorite to win the NFC? Not even close. Still, the NFC is far more open than the AFC. I could see a team like Atlanta making some under-the-radar noise this season, even with my concerns about Desmond Ridder at quarterback. The Falcons have weapons aplenty on offense. Bijan Robinson is the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate; Tyler Allgeier and CP are also in that backfield. Plus, we should see significant steps forward by Drake London and Kyle Pitts.
At those odds, sign me up.
Seahawks to Win the NFC
The Seahawks have a tough schedule, but I LOVED their offseason and draft class, and I think that they’ve closed the gap between themselves and the 49ers significantly heading into 2023. Winning the NFC West and flirting with a first round bye isn’t off the wall for this group, and neither should the idea of winning the NFC.
SharpClarke’s bet features pre-draft odds (+3000 at DraftKings), and the drop in those odds reflect that I’m not the only one highly impressed with Seattle’s draft class. Even so, I’ll take this at +1100.
Would Avoid
Steelers to Win the AFC
Kenny Pickett might be the guy in Pittsburgh. And I thought the Steelers had one of the most efficient drafts of any team this offseason. However, they’re not winning the AFC. They’re not even winning the AFC North. Plus, the odds on that one have come down to +2200 since SharpeClarke’s story ran two weeks ago. So, hard pass for me there.
Saints Go Marching In?
This one’s going to be another futures bet that will be a pass for me. Derek Carr doesn’t do it for me. He’s good, not great. He’s a quarterback you can win with. Not a quarterback you win because of. The Saints need more than that. The NFC has some wide-openess to it, but not this much!
