What Stands Out:
The Seattle Seahawks are further insulating Geno Smith to duplicate his breakout 2022 season.
Analysis:
The 2023 QB rankings should reflect another top-tier performance from the ultra-accurate Geno Smith as he attempts to match the lofty passing yards and passing touchdown totals he put forward last season.
Geno Smith is Set Up for back-to-back successful fantasy seasons
With the 20th overall pick of the NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks acquired Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The rookie mostly landed at no. 1 on consensus rankings of college WRs before the draft. Smith-Njigba can do it all as a playmaker, likely playing out of the slot between two already-established wideouts at the next level.
Though the three might make a logjam of targets between DK Metcalf, Tyler Locket, and JSN, this is nothing but good news for quarterback Geno Smith.
Smith has three rock-solid wide receivers, two talented up-and-coming offensive tackles, and the backing of his coach and front office.
Geno Smith finished the 2022 season ranked as the QB5 in fantasy football. Much of that had to do with how other-worldly accurate he was, finishing the season with a league-leading 5.4% completion percentage over expectation, according to 4for4’s Player Stat Explorer.
Even if we expect some regression while setting our rankings for 2023, we can easily pencil in Smith for another top-10 result from the fantasy QB.
