Fantasy football busts are a sad, but important aspect of fielding a consistent winning team across the length of the long and sometimes arduous season.
Week 4 of the NFL season is always full of surprises, and it’s important to move with the tide of the season, but with only one week in the books, it’s equally important not to overreact.

On the other hand, there’s no reason to continue rolling out players who are underperforming only to watch the score sit close to zero while he continues seeing nominal utilization. Below, we are going to run through every fantasy roster position and find some Week 4 Fantasy Football Busts that should remain on your bench or find themselves on the waiver wire.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Busts: Quarterbacks
Matthew Stafford @ Bears
The Rams QB has yet to top 14.7 fantasy points this season and gets a rough one in Week 4.
Matthew Stafford heads to Chicago to battle a Bears defense that sits third in QB aFPA after three contests, surrendering a mere 8.4 fantasy points to opposing signal callers in 2024. He’s also still without Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua which just adds to his bad vibes this week.
Aaron Rodgers @ Broncos
I could write an entire article about the vibes surrounding Aaron Rodgers but I’ll stick to fantasy football for today.
He’s coming off a solid contest in Week 3, but Denver is no slouch when it comes to defending the QB. Not one of the three QBs they faced so far passed for over 171 yards and none of them threw more than one touchdown. Rodgers is giving low-end QB2 vibes on Sunday.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Busts: Running Backs
Javonte Williams vs. Jets
We haven’t seen more than 9.0 half-PPR points from Javonte Williams in 2024 and he has yet to find the end zone. Things won’t get any better for the Denver RB this week as the Jets are 10th in aFPA to opposing backs. Not only is he a sit, but he’s also giving cut vibes due to low volume and lack of efficiency – his 2.2 yards per attempt is the third-worst in the NFL.
J.K. Dobbins vs. Chiefs
On the opposite side of the spectrum, J.K. Dobbins has been very productive this season with a league-leading 7.4 yards per carry, as the current RB13 in overall half-PPR points.
However, this week he’s missing two key offensive linemen in Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater, and could also be without the services of QB Justin Herbert. The Chiefs also happen to be second among defenses in RB aFPA and are allowing just 11.3 half-PPR points to opposing backfields.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Busts: Wide Receivers
Garrett Wilson vs. Broncos
You’re likely not going to sit Garrett Wilson even with this information, but I’m going to give it to you anyway. He gets the brutal task of being defended by Patrick Surtain on Sunday. The Denver corner has allowed the following stat lines to teams’ WR1s this season:
- DK Metcalf: 3-29-0
- George Pickens: 2-29-0
- Mike Evans: 2-17-0
Michael Pittman Jr. vs. Steelers
Saying Michael Pittman Jr.’s vibes have been off is understating the current situation in Indy. The 26-year-old is averaging a meager 4.8 half-PPR points per contest mostly thanks to brutal QB play.
Anthony Richardson is 34th in the NFL in completion percentage over expected (-10.95) and his paltry 49.3% completion rate is dead last among QBs so far in 2024. To make things even worse this week, the Steelers are sitting fifth in QB aFPA.
