We’ve reached Week 8 in Guillotine Leagues and hopefully, you survived a brutal weekend of injuries. There are some monster names among the most chopped from last week so let’s get into the nitty gritty.
Before I get into Week 8’s most chopped players and advice, hereโs some pertinent information on Guillotine Leagues.
How it works:
- Set up and draft your team just like traditional fantasy football
- Each week the lowest-scoring team gets eliminated
- All of the players from the eliminated team become free agents
- A weekly FAAB bidding war starts among the remaining teams
- Survive the chop and be crowned champion
Because it’s a survivor-style format, you can start leagues any week of the season for as long as you want!

Quarterbacks
Jayden Daniels, Commanders (22.4% chopped)
With only 11 teams left, the QB market is pretty deep so I don’t recommend breaking the bank on a signal-caller. Jayden Daniels is a potential exception. The dual-threat QB was a top fantasy option until last week’s rib injury. His rushing ability is a major plus, and his arm gives him some serious upside. However, there’s a risk he might miss some time. Bid cautiously, but he’s a solid value at $50-$75.
Other QB Waiver Options
- Caleb Williams (37.8% available) – $3
- Tua Tagovailoa (84.7% available) – $1
Running Backs
Alvin Kamara, Saints (16.2% chopped)
Kamara’s fantasy value has taken a hit with injuries and a subsequent struggling Saints offense. He started the season hot as the PPR RB1 in Weeks 1-4, but recent production has dropped. With key offensive linemen out, Kamara’s fantasy numbers have been underwhelming. Derek Carr’s return could help but don’t overpay. Aim for around $75 for Kamara.
Jonathan Taylor, Colts (15.3% chopped)
Taylor was the second-most chopped RB which is understandable given his ankle injury. There’s hope he’ll return this week, but he faces a tough matchup against Houston’s strong defense. The following week, he’ll have to contend with Minnesota, another tough defense for running backs. Although Taylor is valuable when healthy, ankle injuries can be unpredictable. I’d be cautious and bid around $100.
David Montgomery, Lions (15.2% chopped)
Montgomery is as reliable as they come in terms of fantasy options. Despite a minor injury last week, he still managed to play some snaps but they were limited. The 27-year-old has consistently been a top-8 fantasy running back on a per-game basis. As a favorite of head coach Dan Campbell on the goal line, Montgomery is a valuable asset in the red zone. He’s worth a significant bid, around $200 in FAAB.
A few other running backs among the top chopped worth considering include James Cook, De’Von Achane, Tony Pollard, and Jordan Mason. These players are good values at around $45-$75.
Other RB Waiver Options
- Jonathon Brooks (50.5% available) – $2
- Ray Davis (55.2% available) -$1
Wide Receivers
Deebo Samuel, 49ers (17.0% chopped)
The 49ers desperately need Deebo Samuel back after losing Brandon Aiyuk for the season. Fortunately, as a young athlete, Samuel’s pneumonia should heal quickly. San Francisco has a bye in Week 10, which could lower his price. I’d be willing to bid between $70 and $80 for him in guillotine leagues.
Tyreek Hill, Dolphins (16.3% chopped)
With Tua Tagovailoa reportedly returning this week, Tyreek Hill’s fantasy value could see a boost. However, we need to be realistic about Miami’s struggles this season. Despite the team’s issues, Hill’s elite talent makes him worth a bid in the $50-$75 range.
DeVonta Smith, Eagles (16.0% chopped)
DeVonta Smith’s fantasy production was limited last week due to game script. The Eagles ran the ball a whopping 45 times against the Giants. With upcoming matchups against four straight weak defenses who rank 24th or worse against WRs, Smith could be a valuable addition to your roster. He’s a good value at $55.
CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys (15.2% chopped)
Lamb has underperformed his draft position, ranking as the WR16 overall. Coming out of their bye week, the Cowboys hopefully addressed some of their issues. With their passing game expected to remain active, Lamb’s fantasy value could rebound. Given the fact that his bye week is over, he’s likely the most expensive player on the waiver wire this week, but he’s worth considering for a significant bid of around $250.
Other WR Waiver Options
- Demario Douglas (45.3% available) $40
- Jauan Jennings (59.2% available) – $45
- Ricky Pearsall (93.4% available) -$8
- Jalen McMillan (95.4% available) $20
- Sterling Shephard (99.1% available) $15
Tight Ends
Travis Kelce, Chiefs (15.1% chopped)
The KC TE’s inconsistent performances this season have been surprising based on his prior year’s production. Kelce’s seen a wide range of targets each week and his fantasy production has been limited, partly due to defenses focusing on him with other Chiefs players out. If your current tight end isn’t performing well, Kelce is worth a gamble, but don’t overpay. Keep your bid under $75.
