Some of golf’s most iconic figures have hoisted the U.S. Open trophy, but four stand out for their unmatched mastery of this grueling championship. Willie Anderson, a Scottish immigrant who dominated the early years of the tournament, holds the record for most consecutive wins with three, claiming victories in 1903, 1904, and 1905 to add to his 1901 triumph. American legend Bobby Jones, known for his unparalleled sportsmanship, etched his name on the trophy four times as well, with wins in 1923, 1926, 1929, and 1930.

Ben Hogan, another American icon, battled back from a life-threatening car accident to achieve golfing immortality. His four U.S. Open victories in 1948, 1950, 1951, and 1953 stand as a testament to his unwavering determination. Rounding out this elite group is Jack Nicklaus, “The Golden Bear,” whose 18 career major championships include a record-tying four U.S. Open wins in 1962, 1967, 1972, and 1980. These four golfing giants have left an indelible mark on the U.S. Open, showcasing a mastery of the game that continues to inspire generations of golfers.
