The 2025 PGA Tour schedule has been released, and it’s quite similar to last year’s schedule. And by quite similar, I mean almost exactly the same.
After significant changes in the past few years, which included introducing signature events and increasing prize money, the biggest adjustments for the upcoming season mostly involve new sponsors for some of the notable events.

The eight tournaments that were signature events in 2024 will retain that label in 2025. The Farmers Insurance Open will still end on Saturday to avoid NFL conference championship weekend, and the FedEx Cup Playoff will proceed as usual.
There will be 36 “regular season” events plus the three-event FedEx Cup Playoffs, with the season running from January to August, not including the FedEx Cup Fall.
These 36 events include the four majors, the Players Championship, eight additional Signature Events, 18 full-field “normal” PGA Tour events, and five opposite-field events (now called “Additional Events”).
The Tour emphasized that the schedule is “fully sponsored,” countering the narrative that the Tour is in trouble with tournament sponsors.
Commissioner Jay Monahan referred to 2025 as the “second year of this reimagined schedule,” which helps explain the continuity.
From January to August, the 39 events will take place in 18 different states, Puerto Rico, and several countries. The Dominican Republic will host an opposite-field event, the national opens of Mexico and Canada are each PGA Tour events, the Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, and Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland will host the Open Championship.
There have been some adjustments to the schedule. Let’s review those modifications for 2025.
- The 2024 season officially begins in December, with The Sentry kicking off on December 30-31.
- Truist replaces Wells Fargo as a sponsor, and as a result, the May tournament, typically held at Quail Hollow, will move to Philadelphia Cricket Club for 2025. This change is made to accommodate the PGA Championship, which is scheduled to be played at Quail Hollow that month.
- The Memorial and Canadian Open have swapped positions, with the Canadian Open now taking place the week before the U.S. Open.
- The BMW Championship, known for changing courses, will return to Caves Valley in Maryland.
- Additionally, the season will end a week earlier due to the absence of Olympic competition in 2025.
