With 16 out of 18 non-playoff teams still in the mix, the 2025 MLB Draft lottery set the stage for a dramatic selection process. The top six draft picks were determined via the weighted lottery, while the remaining picks for non-playoff teams were assigned in reverse order of their regular season standings. For playoff teams, draft positioning was based on how far they advanced in the postseason, starting with those eliminated in the Wild Card Game and moving through the Division Series, League Championship Series, and ultimately the World Series runner-up.

The Mets, Yankees, and Dodgers each saw their first-round picks drop 10 spots after exceeding the second surcharge threshold of the competitive balance tax by more than $40 million.

The Turner Signing, Roles, PCA, ABS, Red Sox Drama, and Other Cubs Bullets

Believe it or not, Spring Training games start TOMORROW for the Cubs (and Dodgers). If you have the Tokyo Series, you get the bonus of kicking everything off early, which is nice for fans who are eager to just get some baseball underway. Even fake baseball. I am very ready. Cubs Ownership Continues to Get Ripped for the Team’s … Let’s Just Call It a Cost-Conscious Approach

Maybe it's reasonable for a major sports team with a beloved fan base to seek to "break even." Maybe all the properties and businesses that surround the Cubs - but aren't technically Cubs revenue - aren't cash cows. Maybe the Cubs really were maxed out last year before signing Cody Bellinger, and thus lost money on the season. Maybe the massive appreciation in the value of the Cubs asset doesn't...

Hopes Remain High for Cade Horton, Even As Patience is Required

Because of the injuries to Javier Assad and Brandon Birdsell, because of the Dylan Cease rumors, because of the lack of an impact starting pitcher signing/trade after Matthew Boyd, and because of the natural ramp-up to the season, I have had the Cubs' starting pitching group on the mind a whole lot lately.
