AWW: Joel Embiid Fights Back Tears as Son Joins Him for MVP Speech

Ahead of Friday night’s Game 3 between the 76ers and Celtics in Philly, Joel Embiid received the Michael Jordan MVP Trophy. While speaking to the fans in an already-emotional speech, Embiid’s young son ran up to him at mid-court. To no surprise at all, the league’s regular season leading scorer couldn’t keep it together.

Holding back the tears, Embiid told the crowd that his son was the main reason he was there today, starting that becoming a father changes his entire life.
What an awesome moment. I’m also hoping this is the official return of the NBA handing out the MVP trophy in front of the home crowd. There is nothing quite like seeing a player connect with the fanbase on this level.
