The Colonial Athletic Association Tournament gets underway Friday and will feature that team that everyone was super excited about for the first half of the year, the Charleston Cougars.
When is the Colonial Tournament?
There is one game on Friday March 3rd to kick things off before the first real round of play fires up tomorrow. The final will be played on Tuesday, March 7th.
Where is the Colonial Tournament played?
At the descriptively named Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington D.C. This is the home court for the Washington Mystics of the WNBA and the Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G-League.
How to watch the Colonial Tournament
The first few rounds can be streamed on FLOHoops with the semifinals and finals on CBS Sports Network.
Who won the regular season title?
Hofstra and Charleston both finished with a 16-2 records but Hofstra was given the top seed in D.C. by virtue of having beaten Charleston in their only meeting this year.
Defending Champ
Delaware beat the 1, 2 & 4 seeds en route to stealing the auto-bid last year.
Who will participate in the CAA Tournament?
All 13 CAA teams will descend on our nationโs capital this weekend to play in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.
How Many teams will the Colonial send to the tournament?
There was a bit of steam around Charleston being good enough to get in as an at-large earlier in the season, but as it currently sits, they are behind a half dozen teams on the wrong side of the bubble and will probably need to win this tournament to get in.
TL;DR: just one

CAA Tournament Preview
It’s not the way a person should approach these things, but I did come into this looking for a way to “beat the favorites.” It’s a neutral site where Towson and UNCW are also given the bye, so I thought maybe there’s a nice angle on one of these other teams.
I like Wilmington quite a bit. They play tough D, force a lot of turnovers and have managed a pretty nice season. They just haven’t been able to beat the top teams this year, even at home. Not confident they can pull off multiple upsets away from home, even at 15/1. I think you could make a case to bet them ATS game by game though.
Towson is interesting since they HAVE beaten Hofstra this year, and were able to force OT versus Charleston. Their offensive numbers are not that far off of the top two teams and they shoot the lights out from deep. While I sometimes will bet against teams that rely on the three, it’s usually a favorite that has a high 3PA/FGA ratio. Towson is neither.
Colonial Tournament Prediction
I’ll take a bit of a swing here if nothing else but to make Monday’s semifinal games more exciting. There are also markets out there for “team to make final” that may be worth looking at if you want to lower your risk a little and split the bet between the two to create a synthetic E/W.
My Bet: Towson +700
