The Michigan Wolverines’ 2024 recruiting class just skyrocketed up the ranks with 5-star quarterback Jadyn Davis’ commitment. The junior was considering Clemson, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Michigan.
Jadyn Davis becomes 2nd big QB commit under Harbaugh
5-star prospect Jadyn Davis becomes the second big-time QB commit landed by Jim Harbaugh with current starter J.J. McCarthy being the first in 2021. This is a significant move for the Wolverines. McCarthy will be entering his junior year, and a stellar season will have draft stock rising significantly.
Davis is currently the No. 3 HS junior dual-threat QB and No. 35 overall recruit according to ESPN. He’s the No. 3 pro-style QB according to Rivals, and the No. 2 overall QB recruit in the 2024 class per 247sports.
He hails from Charlotte, North Carolina, and has been a stand-out player over his first two seasons at Catawba Ridge (South Carolina) and Providence Day School (North Carolina).
Davis has thrown for 25 TDs and just 9 INTs over his first two years of high school football. He opened the 2022 year being voted as the top overall player in the state of North Carolina according to MaxPreps.
During his commitment press conference, Davis cited a few reasons for committing early and committing to Michigan. One important reason was that this wasn’t about the money or any NIL deal. Another was the need and want to begin building a recruiting class around his commitment early.
This will have dramatic positive impacts on Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines recruiting going forward. Not only have they jumped to 3rd or 4th in the 2024 class rankings, but they’ve also advertised to the remaining undecided recruits that NIL deals will come from superb play. This move sets them up at QB for the next 3-5 years keeping their National Championship window wide open.
The B1G power rankings have shifted in Michigan’s direction over the last two years and continue to do so with this announcement. “Hail to the Victors” is being heard on and off the field once again.
