The Masters’ Par 3 contest has been played the day before the official start of the tournament since 1960. The competition takes place in a single-round, nine-hole par-27 course.
The first winner was Sam Snead, who also won again in 1974. The holes range anywhere from 70 to 140 yards. There have been 94 hole-in-ones since the tournament started.

What is the Masters Par 3 Contest?
The Masters Par 3 Contest is essentially a warm-up for the contestants. It’s very laid back with family and friends usually caddying for the golfers. Golfers will sometimes allow their caddies to attempt a putt or chip here and there.
Interestingly enough, no golfer who has won the Par 3 competition has also won the actual Masters.
